Welcome, my name is Matt and I run Visuals of Scotland. I am a professional landscape photographer and provide photographic training and commercial photography solutions across Scotland.
My aim is to document the beauty of Scotland in the form of Photography. From epic mountains, striking castles, sweeping vistas to the lochs, rivers and seas, I travel across the country to bring Scotland to you
I would love to help you learn to take and edit better photos, whether that is for your own personal pleasure, a desire to become a professional photographer or for your own business or organisation. My knowledge of photography combined with their intimate knowledge of Scotland means that I am able to provide incredible photography tours, photography workshops and photography holidays.
Please feel free to have a look around my site and check out my gallery. Images are available to purchase as prints or wall art.
If you have any questions or comments I would love to hear from you so please get in touch.
Landscape photography is my passion. Even though it can be the most frustrating and maddening thing, there is nothing quite like the buzz of seeing one of my landscape photos on a wall, a product, on TV or anywhere else for that matter!
As with most types of photography and art, landscape photography is subjective. My style can often involve a fair amount of post-processing. Capturing the image with the camera is just the first part of the process, although it is still the most important part. The second part, editing, is where the magic happens! I want my images to reflect how I felt when I was there; be that uplifted, intimidated, cold, irrelevant, small, reverent, relaxed, calm - whatever it was that made me want to capture the image. From standing on the wild coast of a Hebridean island to the serenity of a late evening sunset on a still day in the Lakes, each of my photos should hopefully evoke an emotion or feeling.
It is a real privilege to be a professional landscape photographer and one of the greatest joys is to provide landscape photography workshops. I do this across Scotland and also in the beautiful, if rather busy, Lake District in Cumbria (which I think of as “Scotland’s Little Cousin”). Using local knowledge plus the years of experience I have, these courses have been tailored to provide the perfect balance of tuition coupled with the best chance to get some truly spectacular photos. If you feel like you could benefit from attending one of my Landscape Photography Workshops then please click just here to be taken to my workshop page.
I offer photographic training across Scotland and Northern England. Whether it is a desire to become a professional photographer or to learn to take better photographs for your business I will be able to assist you.
I am experienced with most makes of camera so am able to help you learn to get the most of the equipment that you already have.
From 2020, I will be offering wedding workshops where you will be able to learn how to take great wedding photos in a safe environment. Stay tuned for further updates. In the meantime, if you are wanting wedding training, I offer this on a 1 to 1 level as well as offering myself as a wedding mentor whereby I will attend any weddings you already have booked as a second photographer to offer practical advice and support on the day. Read more about this here, or contact me for further info.
